Captain Keigan Mathers (pictured) missed one penalty and scored another late on as Huntly's under 17s side came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with neighbours Keith.

Keith threatened early on from a corner when Lee Taggart’s shot on the turn was curled over the bar.

The woodwork denied the hosts in the fourteenth minute. A Connor Stuart free kick was met first time by Keigan Mathers whose effort came back off the crossbar.

The deadlock was broken twenty minutes in when Keigan Mathers delivered a corner into the back post only for full back Lee Taggart to turn the ball into his own net.

Birthday boy Cameron Middleton kept his side in the game in the 31st minute diving low to keep out a Harrison Bratton low shot.

Keith levelled with ten minutes of the half remaining when Beeses Rai netted with a long range lob.

Half-Time: Huntly 1 Keith 1

The visitors got themselves in front in the 68th minute with one of their Trialist’s turning in from close range following a corner.

Huntly were awarded the first of two penalties with nine minutes remaining. Substitute Greg Fowlie burst into the Keith box only to be pulled down by Trialist. Keigan Mathers fired in low from the spot only for substitute keeper Harry Cowie to get his fingertips to the ball to keep his side in front.

Just over a minute later, Huntly had another penalty award when Lucas Sey was taken down as he made a run into the box. Before the kick was taken, Keith scorer Beeses Rai was cautioned twice within eight seconds and subsequently red-carded. Keigan Mathers took responsibility again and would prove second time lucky firing in low to equalise.

Both sides had chance late on to win the game. Lucas Sey found Ewan Skinner a quick switch of play and Skinner’s low shot came back off the far post.

Substitute keeper Sandy Watt pulled off a great save a minute later to keep out a Kian McCredie free kick.
