This Saturday we head to Rothes for our first encounter of the season with Rab Mulheron’s side. In the corresponding fixture last season at Mackessack Park we had a large number of goal attempts, some controversy and a late winner. It’s been all-change at both sides we last met, Rab has taken over from Graeme Roy and the last time we played I was in charge as caretaker Manager here. They’ve had changes and we’ve not seen them yet this season but we need to take care of ourselves first.

Hopefully after getting our first win this past week against Wick Academy the confidence is there, we’ve had to wait for that win and now it’s time to get going. We’ll prepare right with a couple of good sessions and keep the drive going and hopefully the same attitude and desire is there for the game against Rothes like it was against Wick. We want to see more of the commitment and work levels that were evident in the Scottish Cup tie.

We’ve got more players back at the moment, Russell Guild is still the only doubt but he should’ve started training at the time of writing this with a view to returning in a couple of weeks. Alexander Thoirs came off at the end of last week after cramping up but playing in a game and training when away isn’t the same so could’ve been a lack of game time catching up with him. He put a fair shift in last week and played well

When you look round the dressing room at the moment and have a twenty strong squad with some experience it does make a difference and it does make it harder to pick a team but at the same time it gives you a good mixture of youth and experience.
