In my last article, I stated that we must turn up against Formartine and we ended up facing the nightmare scenario where literally half the squad didn’t turn up because of illness. That said, no team should be three down inside eleven minutes and I think it exposed a naivety about us which has appeared in flashes this season.

I am delighted that we are bringing in quality players like Si and Lukasz who have been around the block and can prevent these situations from happening. That said, the young subs that came off the bench against Formartine deserve a mention as they were a credit to themselves in what was a difficult fixture to come into.

We are still looking to turn the corner and while it was frustrating to have last weeks came called off, it has allowed us to regroup with most of the boys coming back to training and it has allowed us to return much closer to full strength. There are still a couple of cups to play for and it is important as a club that we begin to compete for trophies again. The priority has to be to build up a head of steam before these matches.

Weather permitting, Deveronvale will be a tough ask but they are a side we beat away from home with virtually the same squad and so it would be disappointing if we couldn’t look to go and do the double over them. With the new additions, it may take a couple of weeks to find the right balance on the pitch but we are all working hard to make sure it happens sooner rather than later.

Enjoy the match
