Huntly FC today announced the departure of long standing Director John Smith.

Mr Smith, who has served the Club for 27 years, cited business and family reasons for his departure,

“I have been at the club for a long time and it is with some reluctance that I have chosen to leave at this point. However my business is expanding at a significant rate and I have just become a grandfather for the first time, so at this point in time I need to concentrate of these areas of my life. I will always be proud of what I have achieved with the Club and wish it every success in the future”.

Chairman George Clark was disappointed at his former colleague’s decision but understood his reasons,

“I am very disappointed to lose someone of John’s ability and experience at this juncture but I can perfectly appreciate that the demands of business and family have to take priority. John has been a great servant to the club, over many years and as a mark of the esteem which the Club holds John in, he has been made an honorary Life Member of the Club.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank him on behalf of the Club and wish him a happy retirement from the “front line” of football, but equally hope that he will find the time to come along and support us on a Saturday as usual".
