Huntly opened their pre-season fixtures with a two-nil win away to Lowland league side Spartans.

Wide players Adam McNamee and Craig Dorrat were on target for the black and gold's in Edinburgh as Manager Gregg Carrol was pleased with the performance from his team.

greggcarrol"I thought we did really well, Spartans obviously had a game two days prior against Brechin City and their legs would’ve been heavy but I’m happy enough with the way we went about ours business. They had a few chances with the ball bouncing about but I’m happy enough with the performance considering we had several players out who would’ve probably played.

It’s our first pre-season friendly and it’s not about the result it’s about the way you go about your business in preparation for the new season.

The goals we scored were good, Craig Dorrat has more in his locker and he needs to score more goals. We messed about with things today and he played in an area he’s not really used to but he did well.

Adam (McNamee), this season everybody will see how good a player he can be, he got frustrated last year and got himself into a rut and had to take on board what was being said but he’s started pre-season really well and had a fantastic game with the little things he does and scored a fantastic goals.

Neale Allan came in at right back did really good while Alexander Thoirs was at left back which isn’t normally an area he plays in and the mistakes the mistakes were very minimal  and it was fantastic to see and good for the squad of player we’ve got."
