Huntly’s development side ran out comfortable winners following a 6-1 victory at Keith with six different scorers on target.
The game was originally due to be played at Kynoch Park but was switched to Keith Astroturf following waterlogging.
Huntly thought they’d went ahead after ten minutes. Dillon Farquhar burst forward and saw his shot parried by Leon Simpson and Owen Morris tucked in the rebound only to be ruled offside by Referee Gary Falconer.
Huntly took the lead in the 23rd minute. The home defence failed to clear twice inside their own box before the ball broke to Zander Zvegintzov (right) to fire in the rebound.
Left back Connor Stuart came close to making in two only for Simpson to pull off a great save.
A second goal did come in the 33rd minute with goalscorer Zvegintzov turning provider to pick out Dylan McFadyen (left) who struck high inside the post.
Within two minutes, the visitors added a third. Dillon Farquhar’s throw into the opposition box picked out Luca Michie and the midfielder did well to turn his marker before firing in a low drive.
Keith pulled one back five minutes before the break when Alan McLeod got in between full back and centre back before placing the ball wide of the advancing Cameron Middleton.
Half-Time: Keith 1 Huntly 3
Owen Morris had caused the opposition a number of problems in the first half but he was unable to continue at the break following a foot injury and was replaced by Owen Campbell in midfield.
Connor Stuart and goalscorer Zander Zvegintzov made way at the interval to be replaced by Max Cheung and Marley Grigor-Taylor respectively.
After setting up the third, Dillon Farquhar was causing problems for the opposing defence again only thirty seconds into the second half. The Huntly Captain went on a run down the right flank and played in a dangerous cross into the back post for Alex Davidson (left) to bundle in from close range.
Davidson would chip in with an assist himself in the 62nd minute releasing substitute Marley Grigor-Taylor (right) with a through ball and he fired in a great long-range effort to extend the lead.
With twenty minutes remaining, Huntly wrapped up the scoring. A Max Cheung cross deceived the home defence and Ewan Skinner (left) was at the back post to turn in with a first time finish.
