Huntly’s under 17s side were 2-1 up over Banks O’ Dee before the match was abandoned at the interval due to frozen areas of the Christie Park playing surface.

Huntly took the lead in the twelfth minute when a Keigan Mathers corner was not dealt with and when the ball dropped in front of Mika Askildsen on the edge of the box, the forward powered a superb strike into the top corner.

The visitors were on level terms in the 34th minutes when Harvey Taylor was penalised for a foul on Lyall Keir inside the box. Cammy Jappy sent Sandy Watt the wrong way from the penalty spot.

The hosts were back ahead with just over three minutes of the half remaining. Keigan Mathers’ corner deceived everyone and dropped kindly into the feet of Luca Michie to tap in at the back post.

Half-Time: Huntly 2 Banks O’ Dee 1

With temperatures dropping and areas of the pitch getting hard, Referee Duncan Anderson and his assistants inspected the pitch at the break and when it was deemed the goalmouth areas were unsafe, the match was abandoned.
