Cory Ritchie became only the second winner of the Under 20s Player of the Year after impressive performances in the Aberdeenshire League win.

The 18 year old who was released from Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s youth setup last summer was delighted to pick up a trophy in his debut season.

“I’ve enjoyed my first season it’s been a pleasure in my first year at the club after being released, the club have taken me in and given me a lot of game time.

We’ve had a regular group of players in the Aberdeenshire League throughout the season and we’ve bonded throughout the season and it’s paid off to come away with that league title. The under 20s competition gives first team players some game time and at a young age it gives me experience under my belt”

The under 20s kept seven clean sheets  en-route to the title win and after featuring at left back and centre half Cory was pleased to play his part in that impressive run.

“We’ve had a very solid defence and it’s worked well for us, the back four and goalkeeper have kept things solid. The two Charlie’s (Duncan and Ferries) have had a lot of experience and they and Chris Baird have passed on a lot to us helping us this season.”
