Huntly made history on Monday with their first GPH Aberdeenshire League title.

The under 20s side went unbeaten in their last six games and with reigning champions Formartine United being held to a 1-1 draw at Keith, the black and gold’s would go on to seal the title with an impressive five-nil win over Banks O’ Dee at Christie Park.

After seeing his side lose out in the title race to Formartine last season, Huntly coach Chris Baird was delighted to help the club to their first piece of silverware since 2007.

Duncan (left) said: “We’ve played quite well in a number of games but what we need from any of the youth teams is a player then going into the first team which I feel is the main thing.

We’ve a good club at Huntly and the players are well treated and even the feedback I get from the players parents is good. We’ve had a number of impressive individuals in our under 17s league this season also and it’s been good to see some of them feature in the under 20s too.”
