This July, a British Blind Sport supporter and self-confessed football nut, John Latham, will be taking on a personal challenge to visit each of the 74 football club grounds in the Scottish Premier League, Championship, Leagues One and Two, Highland League and Lowland League - all in a week and a half! The aim of the quest is to raise awareness and funds for blind football and other sporting opportunities for the visually impaired people British Blind Sport supports throughout Scotland and the UK.

Not only will John be visiting the grounds, he will be jogging the perimeter of each pitch or ground… blindfolded! British Blind Sport’s Fundraising Manager, Ian Carr said: “We are incredibly grateful to John for taking on such an original (if slightly mad!) challenge for us. It will be a whistle-stop tour of a beautiful country, but the hundreds of miles travelled and considerable planning and time that has gone into this, is a massive undertaking. I am sure John will raise plenty of awareness and hopefully funds so we can continue to give opportunities to help blind and partially sighted people get active and play sport. All of us at the charity thank him and wish him lots of luck.”

The trip, which should take about 10 days, is being fully funded by John and any money raised will go directly to the charity. The football mad employment law consultant, who is originally from Coventry, but now lives in Newcastle upon Tyne, said, “"As a lover of all sports, in particular football, I was one of many in the UK to be inspired by the GB team at the London 2012 Paralympics. The performances of the blind and visually impaired were especially memorable for me. I admired their skill, tenacity and courage so much and that inspired me to do this, admittedly slightly crazy, venture. I hope that this Scottish “football odyssey” can help in some way to provide support for blind sportspeople - young and old."
