Top scorer Robbie Duncanson is looking forward to going back to Nairn for the first time as a Huntly player.

“It’ll be good to go to back there and I’m looking forward to it, I only played a small part in the 6-4 defeat at Huntly in November so obviously we’ll go into this game with confidence as our new management have given us some ideas since coming in.”

While there were a number of players who left Station Park in the summer, there are still some faces in the County squad who are familiar to the 32 year old.

“The Main brothers and Wayne Mackintosh are still there with some others I played with while my nephew, Jordan Macrae has broken into the team and played against me in the game at Christie Park earlier in the season and it’ll be good to play against him again.”

Huntly have made a habit of scoring late goals recently. With late goals scored in draws with Clachnacuddin and Formartine United, the black and gold netted a winning one this time with their one-nil victory over title-chasing Buckie Thistle.

Top scorer Duncanson is pleased his side are now putting in performance against the top sides.

“We’ve been getting close, we should’ve held on against Formartine, Brora beat us late on in the league cup and we were due a performance against one of the big teams.

The pressure was on all Buckie, they had to come to Huntly and win with them going for the league but we knew we had to sit in and take our chance and Ross Still has tucked it away at the end.”

Having started the season partnered with veteran Dennis Wyness it was a change of system under the new management team of Andy Roddie and Tommy Wilson which saw Robbie play in behind a lone forward in a role he says he’s featured in previously in his career.

“I’ve played there a bit before at Nairn dropping in behind Conor Gethins and I’ve been used to it and it’s working well. Gary McGowan gives us a bit of energy when he plays up front and you know what you’re getting when Dennis plays that role as he can hold the ball and find you with a pass.”
