Huntly winger Joe Burr enjoyed an impressive Scottish Cup debut away to Girvan.

Speaking after the game he was pleased with his first outing in the national competition.

“It was a good day, the pitch and weather wasn’t the best we got the job done and I was happy to start for the first time this season. I’ve came off the bench on a number of occasions this season so when I got the chance to start I knew I had to try my best and my team mates helped me too.

There’s plenty of competition in the wide areas and we’ve added some quality to the squad with the likes of Paul Napier too.”

The 20 year old from Old Rayne spent last season on loan to junior side Lewis United and admitted that the chance of regular football helped prepare him for the Highland League.

“I don’t think I was quite ready when I signed last season so going out to the juniors with Lewis United and playing regularly in the under 20s helped me a lot going into this season.”
