The club noted with regret the passing of former player Robert Bremner aged 95.

Mr Bremner, perhaps better known throughout the highland league as Bingo, played for Huntly for a few years just before the second world war and in fact had his football career interrupted when the war started.After the war finished he did continue playing locally ,but in local welfare leagues. After retiring as a player he concentrated on building the family business in Aberchirder, before returning to the game as a committee member at Deveronvale in the late 1980’s and then as president in the mid 1990’s.

Bingo was a well known and popular figure throughout the Highland League receiving a warm welcome wherever he went.

Huntly Chairman George Clark said “I had the privilege of getting to know Mr Bremner when i came to the club a couple of years back and he was a regular visitor to Christie park when his first love Deveronvale were away from home or didn't have a game and indeed was a generous supporter of Huntly FC events through his long time friend Billy Walker.

One of the last times i met him was when he sat beside me up at Forres and despite his advancing years had a keen insight into the game pointing out where we were going wrong.He was also a popular visitor in the Christie park board room, and i know many will miss his cheery smile and graciousness”.

The club has decided to hold a minutes silence at the game against Deveronvale a week on Saturday, given his relationship with both clubs.

Over £10k Raised For Charity Over The Last Year

Recently we presented a cheque for £850 to Huntly FC Youth Development (right) as a half share of the profits from the Community Fun Day which was held in June.

Following on from that event we also presented a cheque for £4650 to Angela Shearer, representing Cancer Research UK .

This was half of the sum raised at the HFC Sponsored Bike Run/Walk on 8th June (presentation picture below).

This brings the total amount that Huntly Football Club has donated to Charities in the last year to over £10k.

Firstly £5k to Grampian Children's Cancer Research Charity from last years Bike Run. Then there is the ongoing Commission from Huntly Post Office selling Gold League Memberships,this Commission goes to Friends of Jubilee Hospital

We have also given monies to Huntly Amateur Football Club and Huntly Youth Football Club via the commission from their sales of Gold League Membership

As previously said we had a tremendously successful Community Fun Day on June 1st. From the proceeds of this we made donations to Huntly Pipe Band,Strathbogie Fiddlers and Jessiman School of Dance

As a club we fully intend to have an ongoing Charitable Foundation at the heart of our club.This is an important aspect of us re-establishing Huntly FC as a true Community Club
