Huntly F.C. have tonight confirmed that Chairman Sandy Sammon will be leaving the club after serving a short spell in the Chairman's role.

Sandy cited work and family commitments as his principle reasons for stepping down.

Having recently moved to a new company in the Oil industry, the resulting increase in work load has taken its toll. Sandy commented: "I have to be involved at a level where I can give one hundred per cent plus, and unfortunately my change in work commitments means that this is no longer possible"

During his year with the club, Huntly have seen significant progress on the commercial sponsorship front, with a number of major sponsors including Rigquip International and Safelift Offshore contributing to a significant turnaround in fortunes on and off the park.

Huntly Director Andrew Stokes commented: "It's been a year where we moved from fighting fires on a daily basis to the verge of financial stability. Sandy's tenacity in bringing new sponsors to the club has played a key role in bringing us to this point, and we would like to place on record our thanks for his contribution. Our key task now is to address the vacancy in hand with a view to creating long term stability at the club, and to continue the good progress made during the last fifteen months"
