On behalf of Huntly Football Club I would like to offer a warm welcome to our supporters and to the visiting fans who have made the journey her today to support Iain Polworth and his Clachnacuddin team. Huntly and Clachnacuddin are both sitting on 10 points and I am certain that both managers will have their players fired up today looking to pick the three points and start climbing the table. As a result we look forward to a competitive and entertaining 90 minutes.

Gregg Carrol has seen a definite improvement in his side’s recent performances. The three-nil win away to Hawick Royal Albert in the first round of the Scottish Cup has earned us a home tie against East Stirlingshire in the second round here at Christie Park next Saturday (24th). We hope to see a big home crowd here for what should be an exciting cup tie.

That was followed by a fantastic 5-1 away win at local rivals Keith. The team also performed well against current League Champions Brora Rangers, going down 3-2 to a late goal.

We are particularly delighted to welcome our Ladies Day Mad Hatters Tea Party guest, all 50 of them. We are delighted that the event is sold out and our thanks go to Jacky Clark and her team for their efforts in making it a success. I have no doubt the ladies will bring a bit of welcome glamour to today’s proceedings.

Huntly FC hosted the Aberdeenshire Cup Final last Saturday when Fraserburgh defeated Inverurie Loco Works two-nil, the club was congratulated on being excellent hosts to both clubs and their officials. Our thanks must go to all the volunteers who helped the day run so smoothly and to Alix Turner for organising everything so efficiently.

Most of you will be aware that Steven Dolan has been appointed as the Deveronvale Manager. He was a very popular member of our team here at Christie Park. He leaves with all our best wished and we hope he can bring success as a Manager to the club he played at for many years.

We are delighted to welcome George McNeil our new board member to his first home game since taking up his position on the board. George is the Marketing Director of the retail department of Johnston’s of Elgin. He lives in Huntly as is a life-long football fan.

Finally I would like to draw your attention to the forthcoming Huntly Football Club Sportsman’s Lunch which is on Friday 30th at Pittodrie Stadium. The main speaker is John Hartson. The event is selling well but there are still table available. Anyone interested in taking a table can contact George Clark or myself.

Thank you for your ongoing support and enjoy the game.

Gordon Carter

Vice-Chairman
