Sense he is going nowhere in a Huntly context. Played really well when catapulted into the team down at Gretna. But a long way from the first team now.

Mixed feelings about this. I think he had something to give at this level. But we introduced a number of wingers at the start of the season to the first team squad and none have really convinced. The new management clearly identified it as a problem position and immediately recruited another wide player. It seems we will not be playing two out and out wingers any time soon, so something has to give.

For what it's worth, I thought his game as sole front man up at Nairn last season was a really fine performance.

Agree Premnay but if he doesn't want to stay. He should be playing rather than kicking his heels.

Shame this has not worked out. I reckon he is better than all the others who have kept goal since he left.

Huntly FC today announced the appointment of Inverurie businessman Steve Innes to the board of directors at the club, a role he will take up with immediate effect.

The well-known owner of I & K Motors Inverurie has in the past also held roles as Chairman of Inverurie Locos for many years and also recently  served as a director of Peterhead FC. He currently also serves as a director of Aberdeen FC community trust.

Huntly Chairman George Clark was delighted to confirm the appointment

“I am absolutely delighted that Steve has agreed to join us at this time and I believe this is quite a coup for the club to be able to attract someone of his calibre. Of course everyone locally knows that he is a highly successful businessman, which in itself brings a substantial skill base to the table, but when you add his fantastic football pedigree over many years, then the appointment becomes one of the most significant in the Highland league for some time.

Steve’s main role will be to take up the position of director of football, which he will share with current incumbent Billy Walker. Steve and Billy have already met and discussed the practicalities and are delighted to be working together.”

Steve also expressed his delight at taking up the position

“I want to firstly say what an absolute honour and a privilege it is to join the board of a Highland League institution such as Huntly football club. I have, over the last 4 years, been involved in assisting some fundraising ventures as well as participation in sponsorship, and have got to know the board, committee and volunteers really well. I greatly admire the tremendous amount of hard work that has gone in to rebuild the club off the park and hope that I can contribute to that going forward.

Of course what the supporters and all involved at the club want is to see success on the park and I believe we are moving in the right direction under the guidance of Andy Roddie and Tommy Wilson. Billy and I have already met them and formulated plans for next season and I am very optimistic that the recent encouraging results will continue and I genuinely think that the days when Huntly are regularly challenging the top clubs are not that far away.”

Having turned 40 last week, Huntly forward Dennis Wyness isn’t planning on hanging up his boots just yet.

After finalising a one year contract extension the former Aberdeen, inverness Caledonian Thistle and Hearts forward is please to extend his stay at Christie Park until 2018.

“I’ve signed another year and next season could possibly be my last. You take it season by season as you get to this age. There are still a lot of good young players in this season with the likes of Glenn Murison, Ross Still and Calvin Roddie and things are looking good for next season judging by recent performances against the top sides.”

Having been taken to the club as a striking option there has been a change of role for the experienced forward who has featured in central midfield a number of times over the last two months but it’s a role he says he’s happy with.

“I’m just happy to play regularly, Gary McGowan has been doing well up top and Robbie Duncanson has banged in a few goals too playing just in behind.”

After they were on the end of a seven-nil defeat at Victoria Park back in September, Wyness was pleased with the battling qualities from his side to secure a one-nil win over Buckie Thistle on Saturday.

“It was a good result for us but it was backs to the wall for us as they just kept launching it and was difficult to defend against. We’re looking good in defence with Michael Clark and Sean Webb playing well together and John Farquhar in goal produced a great save from the penalty before Ross Still scored right at the death.”

After rewarding his experienced campaigner with another season at the club, Co-Manager Tommy Wilson said Wyness still has a lot to offer after netting 8 goals in 34 appearances.

“Dennis is a brilliant football player, he’s just turned 40 and the positon we’re asking him to play now is midfield and I think with his football brains and knowledge you don’t have to do that much running in there. He knows how to keep a ball and pass it. He’s brought a lot of experience to the team which will help the younger players and we’re delighted to keep him.”
