Huntly have been busy ahead of their first pre-season friendly with two players re-signing for the club with forward David Booth (26) and midfielder Russell Guild (32) penning new one year contracts.

Booth is in his fourth spell at the club and has impressed since returning to Christie Park in July 2011 and made an impressive comeback from a clavicle injury last season to re-form an impressive partnership with Polish forward Andrzej Kleczkowski. Guild first signed for his local club in July 1999 and is this week set for a bumper testimonial with Aberdeen.

Manager Dave McGinlay was delighted to get the pair, who he sees as key players for the club retained.

McGinlay said: “David has been working hard and we agreed a deal a few weeks ago for him to stay and he wanted to see that the club was progressing particularly off the park as well. He’s just recently passed his chartered accountancy exams so we’ve got him signed up for a year but will sit down before Christmas and take it from there.

Russell Guild is due a high profile game coming up against Aberdeen and has also agreed to sign for another year and he’s done a favour to the club in continue his commitment to his local side. His testimonial committee have looked after him and rightly so and getting him signed up is big news for the club and while we may be thin on numbers I am actively trying to get players in. We have some other players training with us and I’d like to get a look at them over the course of pre-season.”

Keep an eye on the site as we are expecting more signing ahead of our first friendly match.
