Huntly forward Gary McGowan has been getting his running shoes on this weekend all in aid of charity.

McGowan (36) Has been running since 4pm on Friday in order to raise money for Age Scotland.

On his Just Giving page (link below), Gary said: "100,000 older people say they feel lonely all or most of the time. On Friday 26th March at 4pm I will start the 4x4x48 challenge which is running 4 miles every 4 hours over the 48 hour period, just short of two marathons in two days. I hope to raise funds that will allow volunteers of Age Scotland to befriend an older person who feels isolated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity."

Gary also recieved a boost to his fundraising efforts during the week when Dumbarton player Stuart Carswell donated his win bonus following the Scottish Cup second round tie on Tuesday.
