After signing three players from Nairn County on Friday, a fourth has followed Adam Naismith, Martin MacDonald and Sean Webb in joining Huntly.

Forward Robbie Duncanson has this afternoon completed a transfer to Christie Park signing for the club on a two year contract.

Huntly Co-Manager Mark Gray was delighted to add the 31 year as Gray believes it will add goals to his side and help them move up the league.

“We’re delighted to get him in, he’s got a lot of quality, I’ve played against him for a number of years and he’s always caused us problems at Nairn and I’m absolutely delighted to bring a signing like that to the club along with his three former Nairn team mates.

I think we have to give Nairn thanks for allowing us to use him for Saturday’s friendly against Lewis United before the deal was complete.

we’ve now got competition all over the park and in any squad you need that and that’s something we’ve lacked over the last couple of seasons and having a good mix of experience and potential will hopefully help us move up the league.”

Huntly’s latest signing was pleased to get himself a new club but Robbie admitted himself it was hard moving on after six years at Nairn.

He said: “It was hard to move on, it was just unfortunate what happen there over the summer but I’m happy to complete this move and I look forward to a new challenge and can’t wait to get started.

I’ve a number of former team mates here with three of my former Nairn team mates signing on Friday so that’ll help share the travelling. I also played with Gary McGowan at Deveronvale so that’s another player I’m looking forward to playing with again.”

After a signing talk with Huntly Co-Manager Mark Gray, Robbie was impressed with his plans for the club and he admitted he wanted to help get Huntly back up the league.

“Huntly finished fourth bottom last season but after I spoke with Mark I was keen to help get them up the league where they should be. There’s competition for places in this squad, I played up front with Ian Cruickshank on Saturday and he’s a good player from what I’ve seen playing against him. Gary McGowan and Dennis Wyness are out at the moment so some competition is healthy.”

Duncanson’s Highland League career saw him play for Brora Rangers, Clachnacuddin and Deveronvale before going to Nairn County for a second spell and he made 237 appearances for Nairn scoring 79 goals.

Huntly fans will have to wait for their new signing to make his competitive debut after he carried over a two match ban after a sending off in Nairn’s last game of 2015/16.

Sense he is going nowhere in a Huntly context. Played really well when catapulted into the team down at Gretna. But a long way from the first team now.

Good news. A class act. Maybe our best player this season.

Mixed feelings about this. I think he had something to give at this level. But we introduced a number of wingers at the start of the season to the first team squad and none have really convinced. The new management clearly identified it as a problem position and immediately recruited another wide player. It seems we will not be playing two out and out wingers any time soon, so something has to give.

For what it's worth, I thought his game as sole front man up at Nairn last season was a really fine performance.

Agree Premnay but if he doesn't want to stay. He should be playing rather than kicking his heels.

Shame this has not worked out. I reckon he is better than all the others who have kept goal since he left.
