Huntly secured their first home win over Clachnacuddin since 13th November 2010 with a three-nil victory over the Lillywhites.

Ross Still and Alexander Thoirs were both still suspended while Manager Martin Skinner was back in the dugout after serving a one match ban. There was one change from the side which lost at Formartine the week before as Euan Storrier replaced John Farquhar in goal. Clach went into the game with a number of players missing with Martin MacDonald, Blair Lawrie, John Cameron the notable absentees and Scott Graham suspended.

The hosts threatened early on with Nathan Meres denied by a tackle from Eachainn Miller in the fifth minute after the winger burst into the box. Seven minutes later, Meres curled by the far post after getting the better of Shaun Sutherland.

Clach had the ball in the back of the net in the 28 th minute only for Martin Callum’s effort to be ruled out following an offside against Sean Webb.Nathan Meres was a constant threat to the opposition and came close again a minute later when Douglas MacLennan blocked an effort from the teenager.

Huntly went ahead in the 31 st minute when a Kai Ross corner was cleared out only as far as Nathan Meres and he drilled a cross low into the box for Logan Johnstone to tap in his first league goal for the club from close range.

Half-Time: Huntly 1 Clachnacuddin 0

Euan Storrier had a quiet first half but he was called into action two minutes after the interval to block a Ross Logan shot.

The black and gold’s doubled their advantage in the 69th minute with Nathan Meres again causing problems for the opposition. Meres made a lengthy run and cut back from the by-line to Kai Ross whose initial shot was parried by Douglas MacLennan as far as substitute Reece McKeown to reacted quickly to tuck away the rebound.

At two goals down, Clach came close from set pieces four minutes later. Eachainn Miller headed off the bar in the 73 rd minute while former Huntly Captain Sean Webb headed a Wayne Mackintosh free kick wide minutes later.

Kai Ross made it three-nil with fourteen minutes remaining taking advantage of a defensive lapse before drilling in low for his eighth of the season.

There was a controversy with eight minutes to go when Nathan Meres was caught from behind by a high challenge by Ryan Mackintosh. Mackintosh was fortunate to receive only a caution for the challenge. Tempers raged following the initial challenge with Liam MacDonald and Michael Finnis also picking up cautions.

Douglas MacLennan did well to keep the score at three in the closing stages keeping out Booth and Meres in quick succession.

A miserable day for the visitors was rounded off with three minutes to go when Martin Callum received a straight red for a two-footed lunge on Liam MacDonald.
