Huntly missed one penalty and scored another as they came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw in Inverurie.

Locos were missing Greg Mitchell through suspension while Huntly had Alexander Thoirs and Christopher Herd ruled out due to work commitments as Bradley Manson and Craig Dorrat returned to the squad.

With three minutes gone, Christopher Angus headed wide from a Neil McLean corner while Ross Still curled over a free kick after Jonathan Smith had fouled Alexander Jack.

John Farquhar kept the score level with seventeen minutes gone when he stuck out a foot to deny Sam Burnett at the near post. Alexander Jack was short with a backpass which played in Neil McLean but Farquhar came to the rescue again with another block.

Declan Milne got forward in the 34th minute and played a dangerous cross across the home goalmouth but there were no takers. Ross Still would head wide a minute later after he got on the end of a Nathan Meres free kick.

Locos broke the deadlock with 37 minutes gone. A throw from Neil McLean was headed away by David Booth only as far Ryan Stott who returned the ball into the box for Christopher Angus to net with a glancing header into the far post.

Huntly had the chance to level when they were awarded after Jamie Michie was penalised for a trip on Glenn Murison. Michie was very fortunate to escape a caution for a show of petulance after picking up the ball and holding on to it before bouncing it off the ground in an act of dissent. Once things had settled down, Declan Milne aimed his kick towards the bottom corner only for Andrew Reid to keep the ball out saving low.

Locos indiscipline showed again seven minutes into the second half when forward Jonathan Smith could be heard swearing at Assistant Referee Alan Dawson after he had a handball claim turned down. Smith would receive no punishment for his outburst.

Kai Ross replaced David Booth after 65 minutes and within three minutes of his introduction the midfielder came close with a shot wide of the post. A long throw from Logan Johnstone in the seventieth minute was played on to Nathan Meres but the winger’s shot was kept out through a defensive block.

Locos were claiming for a penalty themselves shortly after when substitute Neil Gauld went down under a Logan Johnstone challenge but Referee Duncan Nicolson waved aside the claims from the home side.

Huntly were awarded their second penalty of the afternoon when Jamie Michie was penalised for a trip on Glenn Murison. Eric Watson, who had earlier been cautioned was lucky to escape a second yellow for throwing the ball out towards the corner flag. Michie was cautioned for his continued protests to Referee Duncan Nicolson before Kai Ross sent the keeper the wrong way for his sixth goal of the season.
