keithHuntly came from behind to secure a 2-2 derby draw with neighbours Keith.

The black and gold's welcomed back Christopher Herd while David Booth was out for six weeks with an ankle injury. Keith added new loan signing Jay Cheyne to their bench.

The visitors went close in the opening stages when Captain Jamie McAllister headed wide from a Michael Selfridge corner. Minutes later, Nathan Meres and Paul Esslemont linked up to set up Declan Milne who curled over the bar.

John Farquhar came to his side’s rescue on the quarter-hour mark turning away a McAllister header after the defender met a Craig MacAskill free kick.

There was controversy midway through the half when goalkeeper Farquhar required treatment for a head knock after a kick from Scott Gray. Referee Bart Misiak had given a foul but the Keith forward was very unfortunate to escape a card for the kick.

Full back Craig Dorrat fired over on the hour mark and with two minutes of the half remaiing saw a low drive held by keeper Greg Simpson.

It was far from a dirty game as Huntly ended the half with Ashley Ballam, Christopher Herd, Paul Esslemont and Glenn Murison all cautioned by Referee Bart Misiak. John Farquhar would follow them into the Referee’s book as the teams left the field at the interval still aggrieved about getting kicked in the head earlier in the half.

Half-Time: Huntly 0 Keith 0

Seven minutes into the half, good work from Ross Still saw the midfielder create an opening to pick out Nathan Meres as the winger saw his shot parried by Simpson.

Keith went ahead with two goals in a three minutes spell. Craig MacAskill got forward in the 54th minute and crossed into the back post for Michael Selfridge to net with a downward header.

Cameron Keith had only been on the pitch for two minutes and he gained possession before running on to slot into the net.

After going two goals down, Huntly were creating chances as Dorrat saw a shot blocked while Still headed wide from a Ross corner minutes later.

The home side showed great character to come from behind netting twice within ten minutes. Nathan Meres got the better of Jamie McAllister and played the ball across the box for Kai Ross to curl the ball into the top corner for his second of the season.

In the 69th minute, Farquhar kept the scoreline to a one goal deficit when he stuck out a leg to deny Selfridge. Shortly after, Cameron Keith was left to rue to misses in as many minute which would’ve put the game to bed.

Kai Ross would turn provider for his side’s second when he got on the end of an Ashley Ballam free kick and slipped the ball to Declan Milne who made it two goals in three games with a low drive.

Huntly would finish the game with ten men when Logan Johnstone became the eighth home player to receive a card after Referee Bart Misiak deemed the player to have challenged with his studs up.
