inverurie loco worksInverurie Loco Works recorded a 4-2 derby victory over Huntly to move within a point of league leaders Fraserburgh.

Huntly welcomed back Ross Still and Kai Ross as new loan signing Declan Milne debuted while Locos had Eric Watson back from suspension.

John Farquhar was called into action early on as he blocked a Neil Gauld shot

In the 24 th minute, a short clearance outside the box fell to Calum Dingwall who powered in from 25 yards out. Four minutes later, Eric Watson did well to narrow a shooting angle for Declan Milne as the forward’s shot was blocked.

Ross Still was cautioned for a foul on Neil Gauld six minutes later and Calum Dingwall curled the resultant free kick into the far post.

Huntly pulled one back seven minutes before the break. Kai Ross’ corner was headed on by David Booth who saw his effort parried by Andrew Reid before Nathan Meres converted from close range.

As the half drew to a close, Logan Johnstone headed wide from a Glenn Murison cross.

Two minutes into the second half, a long free kick from Eric Watson saw Neil Gauld and Ryan Stott link up before the ball was worked in for Christopher Angus to tap in from close range.

The hosts had a claim for a penalty turned down when Milne went down under a Watson challenge. Huntly were creating chances and Nathan Meres saw an effort blocked at the near post by Andrew Reid while Milne had a shot held minutes later.

Midway through the half, Ashley Ballam met a Kai Ross corner as Reid held. Two minutes later, Neil Gauld missed a great chance firing over from yards out.

Good work from Mark Souter going forward saw the home defence fail to challenge and the ball was played in for Ryan Stott to drill in with a low shot.

With five minutes to go, Huntly reduced the deficit with Reece McKeown crossed low across the box for debutant Declan Milne to net from close range.
