Huntly went down to their heaviest defeat of the season with a 5-1 loss at Nairn.

Nairn welcomed back left-sided player Kenneth McKenzie. Huntly were without the injured Ryan McRitchie (hamstring) and the absent Alexander Thoirs as Martin Skinner named an unchanged starting eleven.

The home side broke the deadlock in the seventh minute when Cohen Ramsay’s corner from the right wing was met by Dylan MacKenzie who netted with a downward header.

Midway through the half, a Euan Urquhart shot from outside the box took a deflection on its way towards but Euan Storrier dived to the keep the strike out. There was a let-off two minutes later for the visiting defence who turned off at a free kick as Fraser Dingwall saw a header held by Storrier.

Six minutes from the interval, another Ramsay corner was met by the unmarked Calum MacLean to net from close range.

Half-Time: Nairn County 2 Huntly 0

Four minutes into the second half, Ramsay headed off the post and with the visiting defence ball watching, Max Ewan stroke the ball in unmarked.

Huntly reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute when Kai Ross chipped the ball to strike partner Matthew McDonald who headed the ball over the advancing keeper and into the bottom corner.

With fifteen minutes left, Huntly’s Paul Napier was shown a second caution following a late challenge on Ramsay.

Nairn made their numerical advantage count with two goals in a three minute spell. Trialist Angus Dey held the ball up before releasing the in-form Cohen Ramsay who cut in before firing low inside the post. Dey saw a shot parried in the 85th minute by Euan Storrier and substitute Seamus McConaghy controlled before firing low to complete the scoring.
