An early penalty award led to Deveronvale securing a one-nil win over Huntly and advancing to the semi-finals of the Aberdeenshire Cup.

New Manager Martin Skinner was without the suspended Gary McGowan following his red card in the first round as Kai Ross came into the starting eleven.

With just under four minutes gone, Alexander Thoirs looked to have won the ball with a sliding tackle inside his own box only to be penalised by Referee Liam Duncan and a penalty awarded.  Vale Captain Graeme Watt stepped up only for Euan Storrier to parry the spot kick but Watt was quick to follow up from the rebound to net from close range.

Michael Clark came close to levelling in the thirteenth minute when his header was tipped over the bar by Errol Watson. There was a let-off before the half-hour mark when a Ryan McRitchie header back towards goal played in Dane Ballard but he rolled his shot wide of the far post.

Half-Time: Deveronvale 1 Huntly 0

Huntly had a penalty claim themselves a minute into the second half when a McRitchie header appeared to strike a hand inside the home goalmouth but claims were waved away by Referee Duncan.

The visitors had chances late on. In the 86th minute, Thoirs saw a low drive parried by Watson before Ross Still was blocked on the rebound.  From the resultant corner, Clark saw a header kept out after a Reece McKeown delivery.

Kai Ross had a low drive held in the final minute while substitute Robert Scott passed up an opportunity for Vale curling wide in stoppage time.
